The XDynamics team recently sat down with Cinematographer Jonathan Bennett to discuss his background in creative storytelling, the importance of having the right cameras and film gear in creating his vision, and his experience working with the EVOLVE 2.
Jonathan is a Director / Cinematographer based out of Southern California. Early in his career he was a lead tech for RED Digital Cinema and has since evolved into a technical and creative leader in the “High-End Digital Film” revolution. He is the Director at RUUT – a Creative Film House that specializes in short form Narrative Videos with a heavy emphasis on the Personal Story to provide the highest impact, human connection, and return.
For the past year, Jonathan has been shooting with the EVOLVE 2 on several projects and explains the impact this drone platform has made on his professional work, including the value it adds on set in terms of camera quality and ease of use.
“But the client still has this big expectation of the product we are going to provide and so that’s why when we are on the ground we shoot with these high-end camera systems. But we need a drone that can do that too, but we need it to be lightweight and we need it to be nimble. And, so the EVOLVE 2 has been gamechanger for us because now we have the best of both worlds. We don’t have to have this entire crew for the drone. We can have this thing in a backpack, but still provide the quality that our clients are expecting when it comes to our on-the-ground cameras.”
